Journal of Independent Medicine
The Journal of Independent Medicine is dedicated to publishing high-quality research articles, reviews, and case reports in the field of critical care and infectious diseases. We aim to provide a platform for the dissemination of innovative research and clinical practices. To ensure the integrity and quality of our publication, we adhere to rigorous standards similar to those of leading medical journals. Authors are advised to read these instructions carefully before submitting their manuscripts.
1. Manuscript Submission
1.1. General Requirements
- Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the online submission system. Current submissions should be sent to [email protected].
- All submissions must be in English.
- Manuscripts should be original and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- A cover letter must accompany the submission, stating the originality of the work and its relevance to the journal’s scope.
1.2. Manuscript Types
- Original Research Articles: Detailed studies reporting original research.
- Review Articles: Comprehensive overviews of specific topics.
- Case Reports: Detailed descriptions of unique clinical cases.
2. Manuscript Preparation
2.1. Title Page
- Title of the manuscript.
- Full names, academic degrees, and affiliations of all authors.
- Corresponding author’s contact information (email and postal address).
- A running title not exceeding 50 characters.
2.2. Abstract
- A structured abstract of up to 250 words.
- For original research articles: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions.
- For reviews and case reports: a concise summary of the content.
2.3. Keywords
- Up to six keywords that encapsulate the main topics of the manuscript.
2.4. Main Text: Except for the title and references, the article's body may contain up to 3000 words.
- Introduction: Context and rationale for the study.
- Methods: Detailed methodology, ensuring reproducibility.
- Results: Clear presentation of findings with appropriate use of tables and figures.
- Discussion: Interpretation of results, implications, and comparison with existing literature.
- Conclusion: Summary of findings and potential impact.
2.5. Letters to the editor should have a title no more than 50 characters, a body no more than 750 words, and no more than 5 references.
3. Formatting Guidelines
- Manuscripts should be typed in a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12 pt), double-spaced.
- Use standard international units (SI units) throughout.
- Tables and figures should be cited in the text and included as separate files.
- A blinded manuscript must be submitted with the original manuscript. This blinded manuscript must not contain the name, nor the institutions of the authors.
4. References
- References should follow the Vancouver referencing style. In the Vancouver style, citations within the text of the essay/paper should be identified by Arabic numbers in round brackets; this applies to references in text, tables and figures.
- Include DOI for all references where available.
- Ensure all references are cited in the text and listed at the end of the manuscript.
5. Ethical Considerations
- All research involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and must have been approved by an appropriate ethics committee.
- Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
- All authors must have contributed significantly to the manuscript and agree to its submission.
6. Peer Review Process
- All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editorial board.
- Manuscripts passing the initial screening will be sent for double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers.
- Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts based on reviewers’ comments.
7. Publication Ethics
- The Journal of Independent Medicine adheres to the ethical guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
- Plagiarism, data fabrication, and image manipulation are strictly prohibited.
- Authors must obtain necessary permissions for the use of third-party material.
8. Fees and Charges
- There are no submission fees. However, authors may be required to pay publication fees upon acceptance of their manuscript to cover the costs of open access.
9. Post-Acceptance
- Accepted manuscripts will be copy edited for grammar, punctuation, print style, and format.
- Authors will receive proofs for review and approval before publication.
